Biology Genetic Variation Question?

Mutation occurs naturally and there are various forms of it. If the mutation is an advantageous one that individual will be more likely to mate/reproduce therefore adding more genetic variation to the population. Mutation can make new alleles resulting in new genotypes and phenotypes.
