Should i be stressed about this?

my bf is the star quarterback on the football team for his school, and every year they have a football banquet. he told me he wasn't sure if he HAD to go but if he did, he HAS to take a cheerleader (b/c it's the rules) i don't go 2 his school and i'm not a cheerleader. but i promised him i wouldn't do my school's toybowl court because i would have to take a guy from my cl and i am going to keep that committment. but what if he does HAVE to go? he says if he doesn't have to, he won't but otherwise, he must. should i be angry b/c it's a promise breaker? or upset that he wouldn't try that hard to keep a commitment b/c it's rules? or just get over it b/c he still loves me? help!
