Why are people making such a big deal about California's gay marriage ban when AZ and FL ped theirs too?

Probably because California is supposed to be super liberal. I live in California, and in my opinion, changing the definition of marriage isn't necessary when they already have civil unions that give them the same rights as a married man and woman...ex. shared health benefits, filing taxes jointly, etc.
